Hi Reader, There's a question almost nobody says out loud. It gets said in a therapy office, after several sessions, once there's enough trust to say it. And it's usually said while looking at the floor: "Why do I end up yelling at the people I love the most?" If that question moved something in you, let me tell you one thing first. There is nothing wrong with getting angry. Anger is as human as hunger or sleep. It isn't a character flaw, it isn't a lack of inner work, and it doesn't mean you're broken. Everyone feels it. What differs from one person to the next isn't feeling it. It's what we do with it. And that can be learned. At any age. This week I wrote about how: what happens in your body when you get angry, how to read your own traffic light before you hit red, and a five-step technique for responding instead of exploding. I also clear up something that almost always gets told wrong, even among colleagues: the difference between giving anger an exit and going in circles inside it. Warmly, Dra. Carmen Román P.S. If you feel like you've been carrying this for too long, the article also covers when it's worth seeking professional support. You don't have to reach your limit before you ask for help. |
